I led a team of students through the trials and tribulations of hosting a hackathon at Youngstown State University.
Involvement included general leadership, organizing a group using email, mailing lists, and real time chat, creating a brand identity, creating a marketing plan, doing several interviews with media, navigating the regulations involved in (unusual) event planning at YSU, forging relationships with sponsors and local professionals, creating and carrying out a budget, and more.
It was the most insane thing I've ever done. And YSU's CSIS department and STEM college were so impressed that we were invited to do it all again next year.
When surveyed during the ending ceremony, 98% of attendees said they learned something during the event.
